Nahum Gutman is a young boy with a rich imagination, sense of humor and a talent for painting
His father, the writer S. Ben-Zion, one of the first educators at the Herzliya High School is also Nahum Gutman's teacher.  Ben-Zion, who was busy with the establishment of the education and renewed culture in the country, is neither attentive nor interested in the emotional world of his son and his gift, which is developing and growing in front of his eyes. All he is interested in is for Nahum to be assiduous about his studies at school- even though Nahum's greatest dream is to paint, and paint and paint...
During his historic visit in The Land of Israel, the writer and poet Hayim Nahman Bialik discovers the fascinating paintings of Nahum Gutman. Bialik, who was a friend of the family, encouraged Nahum to continue painting and also to study at the "Bezalel" Academy of Arts and Design. However, S. Ben-Zion objects the idea and encounters conflict with his son Nahum.

This is a touching drama spiced with the images from the colorful paintings of Nahum Gutman against the background of the first Hebrew City - Tel-Aviv.
